Whoever Digs a Pit (Proverbs 26:27)
Exhibit AKey Evidence
- The scene: Home Alone (1990). “You guys give up, or you thirsty for more?”
- Harry and Marv came to the house with a plan: rob it and “get” the kid.
- Every scheme they brought through the door came swinging right back at them, one paint can at a time.
- Solomon said it long before Hollywood: “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him” (Proverbs 26:27).
- Evil plans have a way of boomeranging. God is not mocked; whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Galatians 6:7).
- So don’t dig pits for anyone. Leave vengeance to the Lord (Romans 12:19).
- “He who walks with integrity walks securely” (Proverbs 10:9).
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, And he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him.”
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.”
“He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.”
