Charlie Brown stands beside his little tree and says what so many hearts feel: "Everything I do turns into a disaster. I guess I really don't know what Christmas is all about." Then Linus steps into the light and answers him with nothing but the Word of God.
He doesn't offer lights, presents, or a better tree. He recites Luke chapter 2: shepherds in the field, the angel of the Lord, and the words "Fear not." The answer to a hopeless heart is a Person, a Saviour, born in the city of David, which is Christ the Lord.
If you feel like Charlie Brown this season, take heart. The good tidings of great joy were spoken "to all people," and that includes you. Christ came for the weary, the discouraged and the ones who feel like failures. That's what Christmas is all about.
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11 (KJV)
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:14 (KJV)
