Trust in the Lord (Psalm 118:8)
Exhibit AKey Evidence
- The scene: The Thing (1982). Blair doesn’t know who to trust.
- MacReady’s answer: “Why don’t you just trust in the Lord?” Half sarcasm, but it’s the truest line in the film.
- When everyone around you could be compromised, when leaders fail and friends disappoint, the Bible doesn’t tell us to trust nobody.
- It tells us where to put our full weight: “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man” (Psalm 118:8).
- People will let you down. Institutions will let you down. God’s Word has never failed once.
- Build on the Rock, not on personalities (Matthew 7:24-25).
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.”
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
