What about the Gnostic Gospels?
They claim Peter, Thomas, and Judas wrote them. Nobody, not even the Gnostics, thinks that is true.
They are pseudepigrapha: later writers using an apostle's name. They do not show up until about a century after the crucifixion.
The Gospel of Thomas is a second-century work, well after the apostles. Their Jesus is not the Jesus of the earlier Gospels, and not the one the Jewish writings prophesied. He conveniently matches a later religion.
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." — Galatians 1:8
"For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached..." — 2 Corinthians 11:4
