Todd Bentley, Rebuked
★ Website Exclusive ★
Exhibit AKey Evidence
- The setting: MorningStar Ministries, Fort Mill, SC, February 5, 2010. Less than two years after the Lakeland “outpouring” fell apart, Todd Bentley was back on stage.
- From the crowd: “In Jesus’ name, you need to close that book and repent of your sin. You have left your wife, you have left your children.”
- From the crowd: “You’re being rebuked openly!”
- From the crowd: “God loves you enough, sir, to tell you the truth.”
- Bentley: “We’re used to that. That happens in our meetings. It’s okay.”
- Bentley: “We need a little persecution for what we believe.”
- Bentley: “Wouldn’t there be a better way of bringing your rebuke than trying to scream out like you’re a crazy lunatic in a meeting?”
- Bentley: “I’ve had much worse in Africa. They’ve come at me with machetes... I feel the glory.”
- Bentley: “Are you prophesying to yourself? See you later.”
- Bentley: “Those were godly interruptions so we can get on with the rest of the meeting.”
- And then the offering: “You can use a credit card if you’d like to. Just sow your best gift.”
- Being rebuked for sin is not persecution for righteousness. The way back is repentance, not a bigger stage.
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.”
“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.”
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.”
