When a rainbow pride flag turned up on the set of The Chosen in a Season 4 promo video, many believers were shocked. Pastor Michael Grant shows that the flag is the least of the show's problems. The real issue is the gospel itself. Creator Dallas Jenkins calls Mormons his "brothers and sisters" and says, in his own words, "we love the same Jesus." But the Jesus of Joseph Smith's angel-delivered gospel is not the Jesus of the Bible, and the Apostle Paul warned that any other gospel, even one preached by an angel from heaven, is accursed.
Pastor Grant also looks at Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus. Roumie says he received a "sign" from the late Lonnie Frisbee before taking his role in Jesus Revolution. Scripture calls seeking the dead necromancy, and it is an abomination to the Lord.
This isn't a call to fear. It's a call to discernment. Our picture of Christ must come from the Word of God, not from a screen and a writers' room's "creative license." Open your Bible, test every spirit, and hold fast to the one true gospel of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again. He is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:8 (KJV)
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1 (KJV)
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
