Illuminati: The Game of Conspiracy
Exhibit BFrom the Word

Illuminati: The Game of Conspiracy (a 90s VHS Commercial)
Theme: A tongue-in-cheek early-90s TV commercial for Steve Jackson Games' Illuminati card game. It ends on a tracking breakdown and a sober word from Isaiah 8:12–13: don't be ruled by conspiracy fear; fear the Lord.
Summary
Styled like an off-air VHS recording of a 90s toy ad (PLAY on-screen display, tracking noise, colour bleed, an old CRT set), the spot sells Illuminati as "THE GAME OF CONSPIRACY!" The original boxed game came out in 1982 and the Deluxe Edition in 1987. Its collectible card game, Illuminati: New World Order (INWO), came out in 1994. The spot then spotlights six INWO cards with their dates: Epidemic, Center for Disease Control, NASA, Political Correctness and Pentagon (base set, 1994), and Enough is Enough (Assassins expansion, 1995). The jingle asks, "It's just a game… or is it?" "COINCIDENCE?" slams onto the screen, and then the tape breaks down and the TV switches off. What remains is the Word of God.
Cards shown
- Epidemic: INWO, 1994
- Center for Disease Control: INWO, 1994
- NASA: INWO, 1994
- Political Correctness (New World Order): INWO, 1994
- Pentagon: INWO, 1994
- Enough is Enough: INWO Assassins, 1995
Scripture
- Isaiah 8:12–13 (NKJV): "Do not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread."
Takeaway
People love to ask whether a 30-year-old card game "predicted" the headlines. We show the cards and ask the question. Coincidence? But Isaiah was told not to be swept up in what everyone calls a conspiracy, and not to fear what they fear. The LORD of hosts is the One to fear, and that fear puts every other fear in its place.
