He calls Socrates’ spirit a daimon.

Shelf · Occult, New Age & Theosophy 30 of 64

He calls Socrates’ spirit a daimon.

Not evil, he says. A friend. A guide. A counselor.

Born with you. Leaves you weeping at death.
Then he traces it through Iamblichus, Egyptian mysteries, and familiar spirits.
Scripture does not bless that spirit.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.”
— 1 John 4:1

“The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:20

“Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:14

“Regard not them that have familiar spirits… for all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD.”
— Deuteronomy 18:10–12

A spirit that is born with you and abandons you at death is not the Holy Ghost.

Christ does not leave.
