#38 · Magnetic Pole Shifts
Series · Demystifying the Occult 38 of 38
Exhibit AKey Evidence
- Real pole shifts do happen, and we are in the middle of a long magnetic one.
- Its biggest effect: we will have to relabel our compasses in a few hundred years.
- Reversals take a few thousand years, and the magnetic field does not vanish.
- It still protects us from space radiation and solar storms.
- Pinning a pole shift on December 21, 2012 is ridiculous: the process is slow, and the proposed reason, a galactic alignment, isn't even true.
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”

Demystifying the Occult #38: Magnetic Pole Shifts
Theme: Part of the 2012 section of the series. Chris White answers the claim that a pole shift would strike on December 21, 2012: real magnetic reversals are slow, the field never disappears, and the "reason" given for the date isn't true. Weighed against the Son who upholds all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3, KJV).

Summary
Chris White points out that pole shifts are real, both magnetic and physical, and that the earth is in the middle of a long magnetic pole shift right now. Its biggest effect is that compasses will need relabeling in a few hundred years. Quoting a NASA article, he explains that reversals take a few thousand years to complete, and that, contrary to popular belief, the magnetic field does not vanish during that time. It gets more complicated: lines of force become twisted and tangled, and magnetic poles can pop up in unexpected places, such as a south magnetic pole over Africa or a north pole over Tahiti. But it is still a planetary magnetic field, and it still protects us from space radiation and solar storms. Pinning a pole shift on a specific date like December 21, 2012 is ridiculous, both because the process is so slow and because the proposed reason, a galactic alignment, isn't even true.
Key lines
- "We are in the middle of a long process of a magnetic pole shift."
- "The biggest effect of which is that we will have to relabel our compasses in a few hundred years."
- "Reversals take a few thousand years to complete and during the time, contrary to popular belief, the magnetic field does not vanish."
- "It still protects us from space radiation and solar storms."
- "The proposed reason, such as a galactic alignment, isn't even true, thus making it a non-issue."
Scripture
- Hebrews 1:3 (KJV): "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"
Takeaway
Doomsday dates borrow real science and stretch it past what it says. The earth's magnetic field changes slowly and keeps doing its job, held together by the One who upholds all things. Christians don't need to fear a date on a calendar; we trust the Son who sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
