What is said (source timestamps; Reel order)

  1. 0:06:01.6–0:06:10.4: "If you are on YouTube showing people things that they might not know, that is exactly what a teacher is."
  2. 0:13:33.6–0:13:43.6: "Now this is not to hate on women, but there are rules for women, there are rules for men, and women are not to teach."
  3. 0:07:58.7–0:08:06.8 (reading 1 Timothy 2:12 KJV): "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

The visual during line 2 is the channel page from 0:05:51.6. The audio is continuous and unaltered within each line.

Position

The host defends the plain reading of 1 Timothy 2:12 and applies it to a woman who teaches doctrine publicly on YouTube. The Reel presents that argument fairly and lets the text speak.

Scripture

  • 1 Timothy 2:12 NKJV: "And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence."
  • Titus 2:3-5 NKJV: older women are to be "teachers of good things," admonishing the young women "to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed."

Left out on purpose

In the same stream, the host also says Adam was "made of spirit" and the woman "made of flesh," that women operate in "flesh/emotion" and men in "spirit/logic," and that a woman teaching is "blaspheming the name of God." Those claims go beyond Scripture. Both man and woman bear God's image (Genesis 1:27). Adam was formed from the dust (Genesis 2:7) and Eve from Adam's flesh and bone (Genesis 2:23). Husbands are to honor wives as "heirs together of the grace of life" (1 Peter 3:7). None of this is in the Reel.

Can a woman teach on YouTube?

The Hard Truths host argues that if you're on YouTube "showing people things that they might not know, that is exactly what a teacher is," and then reads 1 Timothy 2:12.

Paul's instruction is plain: "And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence." 1 Timothy 2:12 NKJV. That isn't hatred of women. God also gives women a real teaching calling: older women are to be "teachers of good things," training the younger women (Titus 2:3-5).

Teaching doctrine to men, from a pulpit or a camera, must answer to the text, not to culture.
