Exhibit AKey Evidence
- A post like this is going around, and it compares the blood Jesus shed on the cross to voting for a political party. To be fair, Josh Howerton didn't say it. It's a comment someone posted. But as Wretched Watchmen points out, this kind of thing keeps showing up among Christians.
- Christ's blood was not shed for a party. It was shed for sinners.
- No candidate, platform, or color owns His name, and attaching His sacrifice to a campaign slogan uses His name for our agenda.
- Vote your conscience. But don't make politics an idol.
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."”
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”

"Remember Christ's shed blood. Vote blood red."
A post like this is going around, and it compares the blood Jesus shed on the cross to voting for a political party. To be fair, Josh Howerton didn't say it. It's a comment someone posted. But as Wretched Watchmen points out, this kind of thing keeps showing up among Christians.
Christ's blood was not shed for a party. It was shed for sinners. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). No candidate, platform, or color owns His name, and attaching His sacrifice to a campaign slogan uses His name for our agenda. "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain" (Exodus 20:7).
Vote your conscience. But don't make politics an idol. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." (1 John 5:21, NKJV)
