The Trinity Before Bethlehem: God, His Word, and His Spirit

Was the Trinity a late invention of the church? This short study from Pantokrator Media answers biblical scholar Dan McClellan's claim that it was. It walks through the Hebrew Scriptures, where God, His Word and His Spirit are present from the very first chapter. The Spirit hovers over the deep (Genesis 1:2). God says "Let Us make man in Our image" (Genesis 1:26). The LORD rains fire "from the LORD out of the heavens" (Genesis 19:24). Isaiah speaks of the Angel of His Presence who saved Israel and of the Holy Spirit they grieved (Isaiah 63:9–10). Micah foretells a Ruler from Bethlehem "whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2). The God who revealed Himself to Israel is the same God revealed in Jesus Christ.

We share it for the Scripture it opens up, and we pray for everyone who still denies who Jesus is. Our defense of the faith should be given "with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15).
