- The claim: a pentagram is hidden in the streets north of the White House.
- Attorney-researcher Jim Alison and Ed Decker (author of The Dark Side of Freemasonry) argue it is deliberate and represents the “Goat of Mendes.”
- Masonic historian Trevor W. McKeown, Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of British Columbia & Yukon: “there are no satanic plans in the street plans of Washington, D.C.”
- The narration notes the pentagram’s presence is disputed, explains its medieval use as a protective sign, and traces the point-down = evil idea to 19th-century French occultist Eliphas Lévi. McKeown says Lévi “arbitrarily decided” that distinction.
- LĂ©vi shaped Blavatsky, Crowley, Manly P. Hall and Albert Pike. Dr. S. Brent Morris, then managing editor of the Scottish Rite Journal, confirms that Pike quotes LĂ©vi, and large portions of Morals and Dogma (1871) borrow from him.
- Fact check: Lévi did assign the point-down pentagram to the “goat of Mendes” in Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie (1854–56). The familiar goat head inside an inverted pentagram first appeared in Stanislas de Guaita’s La Clef de la Magie Noire (1897).
- Fact check: the figure never closes. Vermont and Connecticut Avenues don’t extend south of H Street, and Rhode Island Avenue doesn’t continue west of Connecticut. Pierre L’Enfant (not a Mason) designed the 1791 plan around topography and sight-lines.
- Test everything, and “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

In Part 2 from "Riddles in Stone" (2007), attorney-researcher Jim Alison and author Ed Decker say yes. Masonic historian Trevor McKeown says no. The film then traces the "evil" upside-down pentagram idea to 19th-century French occultist Eliphas LĂ©vi, whose writings shaped Blavatsky, Crowley, Manly P. Hall and Albert Pike.
Historians say L'Enfant's 1791 plan was never designed as a pentagram, and the avenues don't actually close the shape. Test everything, and "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:11 NKJV)
