Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, on Florida Cracker News Network, walks through license plate readers, red light cameras, and the phone in your pocket. His line: we know where you are. That cell phone tracks every place you are.
The host then pulls up a stingray. A cell-site simulator, he says, used in Florida. It does not take one phone. It sweeps the area and grabs data from every phone nearby. The news voice on the clip calls it a digital dragnet, hundreds or thousands of bystanders, and notes a Florida court said police need a warrant before they deploy one.
Then the next name on the lower third: Hailstorm. The report says these can do what a stingray does, and can also force a phone off 4G or 5G down to 2G, which the segment says could open texts, email, and call audio.
