Mess With the Best, Die Like the Rest (Proverbs 16:18)
Exhibit AKey Evidence
- In Hackers (1995) that's Dade, aka Crash Override, gloating after he wins a round in his hacking rivalry with Kate.
- Proverbs has a lot to say about that feeling. Pride usually feels best right before it costs us. The higher we lift ourselves, the further there is to fall, and Scripture says the fall is coming.
- Humility isn't weakness. It's what keeps you standing.
Exhibit BFrom the Word
“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Clip: Hackers (1995), dir. Iain Softley. Used as fair-use commentary.
