An atheist says there isn’t a jot of evidence for God. Lennox answers with a question about the brain: if it’s only the end product of a mindless, unguided process, why trust it?
He pushes the same point with a computer — if you knew it was the result of a mindless process, would you trust it? The usual answer, he says, is no. Then the turn: a materialist stance undercuts the very rationality science depends on.
He flips it the other way. Modern science took off in the 16th and 17th centuries, and its pioneers — Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Clerk Maxwell — were believers, most of them Christian.
The banner behind them reads “Can science explain everything?”
